Luxury Appliances Service reviews

What owners of Sub-Zero, Thermador, Wolf, Viking and Miele appliances say about our repairs: care for built-in units and cabinetry, speed and punctuality.

  • Yelp

Our built-in Sub-Zero refrigerator started warming up just before we had family staying with us. The technician treated the unit carefully, isolated the issue, and laid out the options clearly. The repair was handled without damaging the surrounding cabinetry, which was a major concern. Everything is holding temperature again.

How it works

How a repair visit works, from your call to the warranty

You don’t have to coordinate anything. Tell us the brand and what the appliance is doing — Luxury Appliances Service handles the rest.

  1. You call or book online

Tell us the brand, the appliance and what it’s doing — by phone at any hour, or pick a day and an arrival window online.

  2. Diagnosis at your home

A technician comes today or tomorrow, finds the cause and tells you the repair price before any work — you decide. The $145 diagnostic is credited toward the repair.

  3. Repair with original parts

Parts come directly from the manufacturer. If a part isn’t on hand, we order it and come back to install it.

  4. 90-day warranty

Parts and labor are covered for 90 days after the repair.

Pricing

What a high-end appliance repair visit costs: $145, credited if you go ahead

A diagnostic visit from Luxury Appliances Service costs $145 per appliance, for every one of the sixteen brands we repair, and the repair is priced at market rates, with no markup because of the home or the address. We accept credit cards, Zelle, checks, cash and ACH payment.

$145

The diagnostic visit

A technician comes to your home, checks the appliance and finds the cause. If you go ahead with the repair, the $145 is credited toward it. You pay the $145 on its own only if you decide not to repair.

The repair price

The price depends on the part and the work the repair needs. The technician tells you the price after the diagnosis, before any work, and you decide whether to go ahead. Our prices are market prices, not inflated — we would rather be the company you call for years.

Parts and warranty

Only original certified parts, directly from the manufacturer. Parts and labor are covered by a 90-day warranty.

Lifespan and parts

Is it worth repairing a high-end appliance?

It depends on what failed and what the repair costs against a fully installed replacement. Premium built-ins are made for a long life — Sub-Zero states its refrigerators are tested to handle at least 20 years of everyday use — and the diagnostic from Luxury Appliances Service gives you the repair price before you decide.

Call (786) 808-7771

How long do Sub-Zero, Wolf and Miele appliances last?

Sub-Zero states its refrigerators are tested to handle at least 20 years of everyday use. Wolf says its appliances are engineered and tested for 20-plus years of everyday use, and Miele says it tests its household appliances for up to 20 years.

What is the 50/50 rule for appliance repair?

A common rule of thumb: if a repair costs more than half the price of a new appliance, replacing it may make more sense. For a built-in appliance, compare the repair price from the diagnosis with the full cost of a new built-in unit of the same size, including installation and any cabinetry work. Luxury Appliances Service tells you the repair price before any work, so you decide with the number in hand.

Will parts still be available?

We use original parts directly from the manufacturer; if a part isn’t on hand, we order it and come back to install it. How long parts stay available depends on the manufacturer: Miele, for example, says its spare parts are available for up to 15 years, and at least 10 years after a model leaves production.

Troubleshooting

Common refrigerator, range and dishwasher problems we fix

These are the causes manufacturers list in their own owner manuals, with what you can safely check before you call. If the simple checks don’t help, Luxury Appliances Service diagnoses the appliance at your home.

Sub-Zero refrigerator not cooling

Sub-Zero lists a fan that isn't working, a temperature sensor or thermostat fault, a compressor, evaporator or condenser problem, or a worn door gasket. A newly started unit needs 24 hours to reach temperature, and Sub-Zero recommends cleaning the condenser every six to twelve months.

Sub-Zero refrigerator not cooling
Sub-Zero wine storage running warm

Sub-Zero names a fan that isn't working, a temperature sensor or thermostat, or a sealed-system problem. Moisture or condensation inside the unit can come from high room temperature or humidity — or from a fault in the unit itself.

Sub-Zero wine cooler not holding temperature
Sub-Zero ice maker not making ice

A Sub-Zero in-freezer ice maker can stop because of a jammed ice cube, low water pressure, a frozen fill tube, a freezer that is too warm, or a water valve energized for longer than fifteen seconds. A newly started ice maker needs 24 hours before the first ice, and an in-unit ice maker makes about eight cubes every two to three hours.

Sub-Zero ice maker not making ice
Liebherr refrigerator too warm

Liebherr lists a door that isn't fully closed, poor ventilation, room temperature outside the unit's climate class, frequent door openings and a heat source too close. If none of these explains it, the unit needs a diagnosis.

Liebherr refrigerator is too warm
Wolf burner clicks but won't light

Wolf lists spillover, burner placement, pan size, the spark module, switch, electrode or ignitor, the gas supply and outlet wiring. A burner wet from cleaning should dry first, and a very large pan can starve a burner of air and keep the ignitor clicking.

Wolf range burner will not igniteWolf range igniter keeps clicking
Wolf oven not heating

Wolf lists no power, an issue after self-clean, a tripped thermal cutout, the cooling fan, control or relay board errors and the bake element. “LO” on the display is not an error: it means the oven is still preheating.

Wolf oven does not heat
Thermador burner keeps clicking

Thermador points to burner caps that have moved and burner ports that are wet or clogged. Clicking while ExtraLow is on is normal.

Thermador range keeps clicking
Thermador dishwasher not draining

A Thermador dishwasher can hold water when the drain line is blocked at the garbage disposal or the air gap, or the drain pump is blocked by debris. The drain hose needs a high loop 20 to 50 inches above the floor to pump properly.

Thermador dishwasher leaves water in the tub
Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer not cleaning

Fisher & Paykel names an unsuitable wash program, a spray arm that can't rotate, and a filter plate or filter that is blocked or seated incorrectly. On double models a fault can affect one drawer while the other keeps working.

Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer leaves dishes dirty
Miele washer door won’t lock or water won’t drain

For “Door will not lock”, Miele’s washer manual says the door is not closed properly; close it and restart the program, and if the message comes back, contact Customer Service. For water that won’t drain, the manual lists a blocked drain filter or drain pump and a drain hose fixed higher than 3 feet 3 inches.

Causes as listed in the manufacturers’ owner documentation. Gas and sealed-system work should be done only by a qualified technician.
